Emberfall Saga

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG I expected to drop after an hour and then played for three evenings straight. You build a party of four, each with a clear role, and fights play out on a turn order you can actually read and plan around. Positioning matters, cooldowns matter, and the enemy design forces you to swap tactics instead of mashing the same combo.

The writing is better than it needs to be. Side characters have small arcs, the main quest has a few genuine turns, and the dialogue avoids most of the filler that plagues mobile RPGs. Loading is quick, and you can play in portrait with one hand for most of the exploration.

My only gripe is the late-game difficulty spike that nudges you toward grinding. It's not aggressive, but you feel it. Push through and the combat opens up into something genuinely clever.
